A Shortage of Something Other Than Expected

A Shortage of Something Other Than Expected

Here it is.  The scourge of sustainability professionals the world over. For the past 25 years we have managed to create products that have recycled content that continually improves. A small roll toilet tissue that is 100% recycled content. And better yet, it is reasonably soft too! Paper towels with minimum 60% post-consumer recycled content. Whitened with non-chlorinated bleach. But in November of 2016 something became reality that we thought wouldn’t be possible. Our manufacturers began to run out of medium for recycled content. What does this mean to you? Increased cost? (Most likely no more than inflation) The what’s coming down the tube then you ask?

INNOVATION of course. My favorite paper company Essity has something exciting, but I can’t tell you about yet. Ugh!!! But what I can tell you? It is as exciting as anything I have seen in the world of toilet paper since 1984. (When recycled hard wound towels hit the market) We will likely have a formal announcement in early May. I promise you will be impressed. More importantly.  You will say…Why didn’t I think of that?
