The most important reality of infection control is absolute avoidance. That meaning limited exposure, limited contact and proper procedures to return surfaces to a sanitary state. Regardless of what you consider clean the invisible enemy that you are trying to avoid is ready to make a new home for itself wherever it can until it finds a new host. All of this is not new to you I am sure. What really matters is not just how you protect yourself, but how you control the pathogen.
Not all pathogens require a safe environment to survive. Nor do they require a host. Many pathogens can survive without a host for days and in some cases months. Often the longer they can survive without a host the harder they are to eradicate. Once again that serves to reason. So how do you fight the invisible enemy?
Sterilization is a controlled environment solution. It is not possible for 99 percent of us. Larger surfaces simply can’t be sterilized. Disinfection is for most of us an easier method for control and substantially less difficult to implement. Most hospital grade disinfectants from concentrate cost pennies to use. So why don’t we have these products available to us in stores? Sure, you can buy sanitizing products and some disinfectants in grocery stores. But are they true broad-spectrum disinfectants like the wipes that you buy over the counter? Not really. That is why we are here!
What you need to really know now that you know where to get hospital grade disinfectants? We have several: Daily Disinfectant, Paramount, Betco Disinfectant, San Affect, and more. Always remember, have Quat check strips available to be certain that you are accurate in measurement.
They need time. Even the most effective disinfectants need at least one minute to kill 100% of the bacteria and virus on a surface. Most require between five and ten minutes. That is ok. If you can keep the surface wet for that long. Surface sanitizers kill 99% of bacteria. Keep In mind that 99% is pretty good just the same. Many viruses like Coronavirus require little more than soap to kill them. Soap and water on your hands does a far better job than alcohol at 75 percent. If you wash your hands properly.
